Back to School Support for Families.
Dear families,
The 2024-2025 school year is almost here! The first day of school for New York City public schools is Thursday, September 5. If you require support enrolling your child in a NYC public school, continue reading to learn where you can get back to school support based on what grade your child is entering in the fall.
3-K & Pre-K: Children born in 2020 (pre-K) and 2021 (3-K) are eligible to attend. If your child does not have an offer, please join program waitlists on MySchools.nyc. You can filter for schools that may have seats available using the “Need a Seat for the 2024-25 School Year” filter.
Kindergarten-5th grade: Children born in 2019 are eligible to attend kindergarten. Register directly at your child’s zoned school (if applicable) beginning September 5. You can enter your address here to identify your zoned school. If your child resides in Districts 1, 7, or 23 they do not have a zoned school, please schedule an appointment with a Family Welcome Center. Families can also join waitlists to explore additional kindergarten options.
6th - 8th grade: Register directly at your zoned school (if applicable) beginning September 5. You can enter your address here to identify your zoned school. The following districts do not have zoned schools: 1, 3, 5, 7, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 23; please schedule an appointment with a Family Welcome Center if you live in these districts for placement. Families can also join waitlists to explore additional 6th grade options.
9th - 12th grade: Schedule an appointment with the Family Welcome Center to find a high school placement. Additionally, families can join waitlists to explore more options for 9th and 10th grade.
From August 12- September 13, many of our Family Welcome Centers will be assisting families in temporary locations. You can schedule an appointment by calling (718) 935-2828. Please visit the website for more information.
Applications for Fall 2025 enrollment will open during this upcoming school year. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to each application period.
